Self Love 201: How to start your self love journey?
Welcome to the second post of my self love blog series, to help you kickstart your self-love journey.
The main purpose of self-love is to make yourself feel loved, heard and seen. So in my opinion based of what worked for me you start your self-love journey by making yourself feel loved and feel heard and then feel seen.

In this post I’d be sharing simple practices you can try to make yourself feel loved, seen and heard.
Make yourself feel loved
A simple practice to make yourself feel loved is to write to yourself a love letter with the intention to make yourself feel loved. I can still remember vividly the first time I wrote a love letter to myself, that was the first time I knew how it actually felt to show myself love..it felt so good.
Make yourself feel seen and heard.
How I make myself feel seen and heard;
I make myself feel seen and heard by listening to myself, feeling my emotions, listening to my gut and listening to my body.
When I listen, I get to know my needs, know what my body needs & what my emotions are trying to tell me which led me to start the journey of not neglecting any part of myself.
I make myself feel seen and heard by being my own listener, Also seeing and accepting myself for who I am.
You can make yourself feel seen and heard by paying attention to yourself, being present with yourself & giving yourself that kind of attention you crave from others.
A simple practice to get started with making yourself feel seen and heard is to get a special journal for just expressing yourself to yourself. expressing your emotions & your feelings about anything that is bothering you, making you happy or going on in your life. You get to express how you feel about your day or about something you did or that happened to you. Do this practice with love and compassion for yourself, also being understanding with yourself. Don’t judge yourself for any of your emotions. Write and express without judging yourself. Feel what ever comes up, they are just emotions and they don’t define you.

- How am I doing today? How do I feel right now?
- What is body trying to tell me?
- What does my body need?
- What are my needs? Am I meeting my self-love needs? note: your self-love needs might be love, care, boundaries, attention, compassion, acceptance, validation, safety or you might just need a hug.
- How can I best meet my self-love needs? note: This is about meeting your needs yourself, not looking externally for someone else to meet your self love needs. If you need a hug, give yourself a hug.
- What parts of myself am I neglecting? How can I be more accepting of them?
- What do I appreciate about myself?
- How can I appreciate myself more?
- What can I do to make myself happy?
- How can I show myself gratitude?
